Royal Ascot 2019 is underway. It’s always interesting to consider this high-profile meeting not only because The Queen is there. There are many exceptional racehorses which also have blue blood.
I mentioned a horse a few weeks back called Bomb Proof, who is trained by Hugo Palmer. As it happened, this good-looking colt won on debut at York, showing a level of ability, pulling just under a couple of lengths clear of the second horse, which franked the form on its next start.
There is nothing better than seeing a classy thoroughbred in full stride. Like poetry in motion. This son of Society Rock cost 100,000 guineas at the yearling sales (40,000 guineas as a foal). This February foal is owned by C Fox & Shalfleet Partnership.
It’s interesting to note that Bomb proof held a few entries for Royal Ascot. As far as I can see, he isn’t going to be heading to the Royal meeting so we will have to wait until he makes an appearance soon. Without doubt Bomb Proof will be competing at Group class. If you are interested in following the best two-year-old horses in training then take a look at Group Horse. They give a couple of 10 Dark Horse Mailings which identified Too Darn Hot last year among other class horses (all before they even made their debut).
